US and Russia warn each other about ongoing operations in Syrian airspace

St. Petersburg/Sydney – The conflict between the US drones and Russian fighter jets in the Syrian airspace seems to be getting serious. US Defense Secretary Austin Lloyd said they had contacted Russia on this issue. During his Australia visit, Lloyd warned that Russia should not behave irresponsibly in Syrian airspace. At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin has replied that Russia is ready for any situation in the region. However, the Russian President has also said that Russia does not want to fight the United States.

Syrian airspace, Russia, USUS MQ-9 Reaper drones are deployed in Syrian airspace. The United States has alleged that the Russian fighter jets flew dangerously close to this drone. The US also claimed that such incidents had occurred several times and a conflict was possible. A few days ago, the Russian fighter jet accused the US drone of releasing flares. However, Russia had clarified that it was not part of an attack but a defensive action by their fighter aircraft. The US had rejected Russia’s disclosure.

In response to these Russian actions in Syria’s airspace, the United States has increased the deployment of F-22 Raptor aircraft at its bases in the Gulf and, a few days ago, also deployed advanced fighter F-35 aircraft of its Air Force. Through this, the United States also sent the message that they were fully prepared to teach Russia a lesson. In addition, the US said that Russia has been taking irresponsible actions against the US in Syrian airspace. However, General Kurilla of Central Command (CENTCOM) has sternly warned that Russia is unaware that the United States has many options against Russia in this region.

It has created a conflict-like situation between the US drone and the Russian aircraft again, and now the US Defense Secretary seems to be warning Russia against it. However, the Russian President has clarified that they were always ready to discuss with the United States to avoid conflict. President Putin claimed Russia is prepared to face any situation but does not want conflict.

Meanwhile, Russia said that it had made deployments in Syria at the request of the Syrian government, and its military activities are taking place in this country only with the permission of the Syrian government. However, Russia has said that the US has not obtained such consent from the Syrian government, so the US-initiated actions are illegal. At the same time, the United States has claimed that they have to deploy and take military action in Syria to take action against dangerous terrorist organisations in this country.
