Washington – FBI Chief Christopher Wray has warned that after the terrorist attacks in Israel last week, there may be attacks by Hamas or other terrorist organisations in the United States as well. After the start of the Israel-Hamas war, there were demonstrations in many cities in the US in support of Hamas. Besides, incidences of tension have emerged in some places due to the face-off between Israel and Hamas supporters. Against this background, the warning given by the US investigative agency’s chief attracts much attention.

Hamas, the terrorist organisation in Palestine’s Gaza Strip attacked Israel last week. Western countries have strongly condemned the Hamas attacks and declared support for Israel. However, pro-Palestinian groups have adopted an aggressive stance in the US and Europe and started demonstrations. In some European countries, incidents of hatred towards Jews have come to light, and there have been attacks on those supporting Israel.

Moreover, former Hamas chief Khaled Meshal had instigated the world’s Ararab-Islamic countries and Palestinian supporters to expand the scope of the war against Israel. After this, some terrorist organisations in the Gulf declared support for Hamas and threatened to attack the interests of Israel and the countries supporting it. The US has openly sided with Israel in the Israel-Hamas war and dispatched two of its aircraft carriers. The US Secretary of State and Defense Secretary has also visited Israel and testified cooperation.

In addition, FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) chief Wray made it explicitly clear against this background that the possibility of terrorist and extremist groups targeting the US has increased. ‘History has been witness to antisemitic and other forms of violent extremism for far too long. We remain committed to continuing confronting those threats,’ FBI warned.

Additionally, the US administration has warned of action against individuals and groups supporting Hamas and spreading hatred towards Jews. There have also been indications of expelling foreign nationals if they are found to be involved in such actions. It is also claimed in European countries that there is an increased risk of attacks by Hamas and other terrorist organisations. Also, there was a terrorist attack on a teacher in France last week, and messages threatening an attack are also being spread.
