Washington/Beijing/Brussels – The United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union (EU) and China have criticised the Israeli military operation in the Rafah region of the Gaza Strip. Besides, there are claims of a difference of opinion between US President Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu regarding this issue. China has also warned that a major crisis will emerge if Israel continues action in Rafah. At the same time, the European Union has also called for stopping the military aid to Israel.
Moreover, Israel is very serious about Rafah’s military action. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said that action on Rafah is necessary to win over Hamas. In addition, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have deployed a special military team for this purpose. Currently, Israeli fighter jets are carrying out airstrikes on Hamas targets in Rafah. However, Israel will launch an extensive military operation in Rafah in the next few hours.
Additionally, US President Joe Biden has said that Israel should not launch military action in Rafah in such a situation. It has come to the fore that President Biden has used abusive words against the Rafah action, saying that it would lead to the death of Palestinians and would harm efforts to achieve a ceasefire. Following this, the UK has also adopted the US’s role and called for Israel to stop Rafah’s actions.
Apart from this, the Chinese Foreign Minister has categorically threatened Israel in this matter. A humanitarian crisis may emerge in the region due to Israeli military action in Rafah. Also, China has rebuked Israel to stop the Rafah action as much as possible. Analysts claim that China, which is more concerned about Hamas than the Palestinians in Gaza, is now trying to increase pressure on Israel.
Meanwhile, Egypt and Jordan have also called on Israel for a ceasefire. Furthermore, Egypt has already warned that if the Palestinian refugees enter Egypt due to Rafah’s action, the peace agreement will be over.
