Tehran: Iranian Defense Minister Amir Hatami has issued a threat to Israel. ‘As per instructions from Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran has prepared a plot to attack Israel. With just one order from him, the attack on Israel will be executed. Therefore, Israel should not even issue a verbal warning of attacking Iran. Otherwise, both the Israeli cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa will be razed to the ground,’ Hatami said. Two days ago, the Israeli defence minister had announced that they were upgrading contingency plans for attacking Iran. The Iranian minister’s warning comes in response to the announcement.
In an interview with a US news channel last week, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said Israel was ready to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. Gantz called on the United States and European countries to work together to prevent Iran from becoming nuclear-armed. However, Gantz also said that ‘If that happened, there would be no need to attack Iran. Nevertheless, if the United States and European countries do not prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, Israel will have to act independently in self-defence.’
At the same time, Israel’s defence minister announced that it was updating its plans to target sites associated with Iran’s nuclear program. During the interview, Gantz stated that Israel had compiled a list of such locations in Iran. About a month ago, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff, Lieutenant-General Kochavi, also said Israel was ready to target Iran’s nuclear program. On Sunday, Iranian Defense Minister Hatami responded to the Israeli defence minister’s threat. ‘Sometimes, Israel, out of desperation, makes big claims against Iran to threaten it allegedly. However, Israel knows this, and if it doesn’t know, it must understand that if it does anything, we will raze Tel Aviv and Haifa to the ground,‘ Hatami threatened.
In an interview on Sunday, Hatami declared that ‘The order of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei for planning an attack on Israeli cities has been carefully enacted by the Iranian Armed Forces and turned into a blueprint. It will be implemented with a single beckon by the Supreme Leader.’ At the same time, Defense Minister Hatami claimed that Iran could bring stability to the Middle East with its armed groups.
This is the second threat Iran has issued Israel in the last 24 hours. A few hours ago, Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations (UN), also warned Israel. ‘Israel will have to face serious consequences if it tries to attack Iran by fabricating an attack on a merchant ship,’ Ravanchi said. Last month, on February 25, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blamed Iran for a suspicious explosion on an Israeli cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman.
