Japan will be digging its own grave if it supports US in defending Taiwan

Beijing: ‘Japan, which is completely dependent on US military aid, cannot dare to face China alone. Therefore, Japan will dig its own grave by intervening militarily in the Taiwan problem,’ China’s government mouthpiece warned. Japan’s Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso had announced four days ago that Japan would join forces with the United States if China invaded Taiwan. China’s warning appears to have come in response to the minister’s remarks.

Over the past few months, China has launched extremely aggressive military moves against Taiwan. Last month, 23 Chinese warplanes had entered Taiwan’s airspace in a single day. Now, China’s aircraft carriers and destroyers have stepped up their movements near Taiwan’s territorial waters. Besides, reports reveal the Chinese military has deployed its missiles along Taiwan’s western coast. Thereby China’s military moves are feared as preparations for taking over Taiwan.

Leading democracies around the world have expressed concerns over it. The move has also triggered a backlash from Taiwan’s neighbour Japan. In the past few weeks, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi, and Deputy Defense Minister Nakayama have repeatedly raised the issue of Taiwan, urging democracies to unite. Japan’s Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso even announced that his country’s security is linked to Taiwan.

‘An attack on Taiwan in the near future could prove an existential threat to Japan as we will be the next target after Taipei. In that scenario, Japan will join the United States in defending Taiwan,’ the Japanese deputy prime minister announced. In response, China had warned Japan, saying Japanese Deputy Prime Minister Aso’s remarks would hit ties with China and Japan should take a lesson from history.

China’s communist regime has now openly threatened Japan through its official mouthpiece, ‘The Global Times’. ‘Japan has no defence policy and is completely dependent on the United States. It is, therefore, quite easy for the Chinese army to neutralise the Japanese army. Japan is powerless in the face of the Chinese military,’ Chinese military analyst Song Zhongping said in an article in the Global Times.

‘At the same time, Taiwan is China’s red line. If the Japanese army crosses it, Japan will be China’s official target,’ the Global Times threatened. Along with Taiwan, the Senkaku island issue will force Japan to face Chinese military action, the Chinese spokesman warned.
