Attack on Crimea would be ‘judgement day’ for Ukraine

Moscow/Kyiv – Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev sternly warned that if Ukraine tries to attack Crimea, that day will prove to be the judgement day for Ukraine. Medvedev also warned that Russia would launch such a huge and overwhelming attack that no one in Ukraine would have a place to hide. A few days ago, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that the Ukrainian army would also take control of Crimea. Subsequently, the Ukrainian military authorities threatened to attack Crimea with the help of weapons provided by the US and Western countries. Against this backdrop, the warning given by Russia’s chief leader becomes noteworthy.

Judgement day, UkraineLast month, various claims were published in the media about the Russia-Ukraine peace talks. At that time, the world’s leading diplomats and analysts had appealed to Ukraine to leave some parts. There had been a strong reaction from the President of Ukraine to this. President Volodymyr Zelensky had claimed that the Ukrainian people would regain all the lost territory, and that would also include Crimea. Thenceforth, Ukraine undertook a new counter-attack campaign to push Russian forces back. Speaking about the campaign, senior Ukrainian military officials had claimed that attacks would be launched even on Crimea with the assistance of US weapons. This seems to have received a response from the Russian leadership. Medvedev, the Former President and Deputy Chief of the Security Council, issued a stern warning to Ukraine at an event in Volgograd. ‘Some exalted bloody clowns who pop up there periodically with some statements are trying to threaten us — I mean an attack on Crimea, and so on. The consequences are obvious’, warned Medvedev.

‘If something like this happens, there would be a ‘doomsday’ for all of them there, very fast and hard. It will be challenging to hide. But nevertheless, they (Ukraine’s leadership) continue to provoke the general situation with such statements’, warned Medvedev. The Former President reprimanded Ukraine that at some point, Ukraine will realise that no matter what happens, Russia will not stop unless the goals of the Ukraine campaign are fulfilled.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Defence Department informed that the Russian forces attacked the Ukrainian base in Odessa and destroyed a large stock of ‘Harpoon’ missiles given by the United States. The Department of Defence said that US-supplied HIMARS launchers were also destroyed in the province of Donetsk.
