Ayman al-Zawahiri killed in US drone strike

Washington – Al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri has been killed in a US drone strike. This dangerous terrorist leader, who had a bounty of around two and a half million dollars on his head, was killed in the attack of the Hellfire missile launched by the US intelligence agency ‘CIA’ in Kabul, Afghanistan. Zawahiri assisted Osama bin Laden in carrying out the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the US that killed around 2977 people. ‘Justice has been delivered, and this terrorist leader is no more,’ US President Joe Biden has expressed his satisfaction. However, the Taliban have complained that the US attack has violated international law and the Doha agreement.

Moreover, Al Zawahiri had come to visit his family in Kabul, Afghanistan. Terrorists of the Haqqani network, a prominent faction of the Taliban, had set up a safe house for Zawahiri here. But the American intelligence agency, on the trail of Zawahiri, took advantage of this opportunity and struck a Hellfire missile at Zawahiri, who was on the balcony of this safe house. The US has informed that Zawahiri was killed, but his relatives were not harmed. US President Biden said, ‘The United States continues to demonstrate our resolve and our capacity to defend the American people against those who seek to do us harm. Tonight we made clear: No matter how long it takes. No matter where you try to hide. We will find you,’ President Biden claimed.

Before coming to Kabul, Zawahiri was in Pakistan. He was moved from Pakistan to Kabul in May. This work was done by Aziz Haqqani, the commander of the Haqqani group of the Taliban, the US media informed. The US media reported this news citing reliable sources. Therefore, it is being exposed to the world that after Osama bin Laden, the pr
evious head of Al Qaeda, Pakistan sheltered Zawahiri too. It clearly appears that Pakistan’s relationship with terrorists is still intact.

Meanwhile, the Haqqani group had initially denied the news after the US killed Zawahiri. However, after some time, the Haqqani group also had to admit that Zawahiri was killed in the US attack. The Taliban then condemned the US attack. The Taliban have blamed the US attack as a violation of international law and the agreement signed with the Taliban in Doha. However, the United States dismissed the Taliban’s objection by saying that no clause in the Doha agreement prevented it from attacking terrorists. Some Taliban leaders have demanded a national honour for Zawahiri. The Taliban’s Foreign Minister Muttaqi has opposed it.

A few months ago, Zawahiri announced a new al-Qaeda group to carry out deadly operations in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh and India. As a result, with the death of Zawahiri, the threat to India has been reduced to a great extent. At the same time, the news was released that Saif al-Adel had been entrusted with the responsibility of al-Qaeda after Zawahiri. The 71-year-old Zawahiri was only working to spread a message to terrorists by releasing videos. Information has surfaced that Adel was the one who used to carry out the responsibility of the activities of al-Qaeda.
