Moscow/Kyiv: Russian military seems to have intensified its operations in eastern Ukraine. In the last 24 hours, the Russian Army launched a heavy barrage of missiles and rockets in more than 25 areas, including Bakhmut and Avdiivka. The Russian strikes targeted infrastructure and sensitive facilities in the Donbas region. In the wake of these attacks, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned the Ukrainian regime that it must accept Russian demands. Otherwise, the Russian army will decide the fate of the war.

In the past few days, Putin has begun preparations for a more aggressive campaign in Ukraine with a series of meetings. In a meeting with the Russian armed forces, the Russian president assured that the Russian government would not allow the armed forces to face a lack of funds for the conflict in Ukraine. After that, in a meeting held with the Russian defence companies, Putin instructed them to provide sufficient and quality arms to the army in time. Therefore, the Western media claim in reports that Russia is preparing for a new attack based on President Putin’s meetings, his statements and the activities of the Russian army.

According to reports, the Russian military is strongly focusing on eastern Ukraine. In the last few days, Russian forces have launched heavy attacks on the cities of Bakhmut, Avidiivka, Siversk, Dylivka, Druzhba, Brasov, and Marinka in Donbas. Ukrainian forces have claimed nearly 60% of Bakhmut was destroyed in the Russian attacks. Ukrainian officials said Russian forces were trying to encircle Bakhmut from all sides. Russia reported that over 100 Ukrainian soldiers were killed in attacks by the Russian army in the Donetsk region in the last two days.

Ukraine’s Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malyar claimed that the Russian military target is to gain full control of the Donetsk region by the end of the year. The Ukrainian Minister also said that many areas, including Bakhmut, are being attacked simultaneously for this purpose. Bakhmut is like a fortress for the Ukrainian army, and Russia has not been able to capture it, Malyar said. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also took note of the ongoing attacks by Russia in Donbas. Zelensky said Ukraine’s position on the front line in eastern Ukraine is very difficult and painful. The Ukrainian president also warned that Russia is targeting Donbas using all its resources.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov issued a stern warning against the attacks in Donbas. Foreign Minister Lavrov warned that “The Ukrainian regime is fully aware of the proposals put forth by Russia. Ukraine must demilitarise and denazify, and remove any military threats to Russian security. It also includes the newly occupied regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia by Russia.

Now the only option left for Ukraine is to accept this demand. Otherwise, the Russian army will decide the fate of the war using their methods.” Also, Lavrov pointed out that the decision to stop the war was in the hands of the United States and Ukraine.
