Washington – Great progress has been made worldwide in the post-Cold War era. During this period, the order built had to counter many challenges, from the war in Yugoslavia to the Covid pandemic. However, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken claimed that whatever starts in the current period is not a test of the post-Cold War order but its end.
Moreover, in a lecture at the Brzezinski Lecture Series organised by the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University, Secretary of State Blinken has outlined his role in US foreign policy. At that time, he stated that the world order created after the Cold War was coming to an end and indicated that a new order was emerging. Besides, the US Secretary of State said the geopolitical stability during the post-Cold War era had given way to competition with authoritarian powers.
Additionally, the Secretary of State Blinken accused the Russia-China alliance of being responsible for the competition at the international level. He also alleged that China and Russia are engaged in no-limits partnership activities to secure the world for monopoly. Also, the US Secretary of State clarified that Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine was the most acute threat to sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence and human rights.
Furthermore, Secretary Blinken warned, ‘Meanwhile, the People’s Republic of China poses the most significant long-term challenge because it not only aspires to reshape the international order; it increasingly has the economic, the diplomatic, the military, and the technological power to do just that.’
