Tehran: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has issued a threat to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and said, ‘United Arab Emirates has betrayed the Islamic world, Arab nations and Palestine by striking a deal with Israel. Of course, the UAE’s betrayal will not last long.’ A severe reaction has emerged from the US over the threat. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo lambasted Iran in response to it and said, ‘If you’re looking for those betraying Islam Supreme Leader Khamenei, China is seeking to destroy the Uyghurs. Looking forward to your public callout for the Chinese Communist Party’s horrific treatment of those Muslims.’  

Last month, the US brokered a historic peace agreement between Israel and the UAE. Several nations welcomed the deal while many countries which do not have ties with Israel have hinted at looking forward to establishing cooperation with it. However, Iran and Turkey have taken an aggressive stand against the agreement and begun to threaten Israel and the UAE. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani had warned that ‘The historic Israel-UAE peace deal is a huge mistake and the future for UAE is dangerous.’ After the threat, the UAE intensified its stand against Iran and sent a summons to Iranian envoy. On the sidelines of the developments, Khamenei’s threat assumes much significance.  

As a joint US-Israel delegation arrived at UAE, Iran’s Supreme Leader threatened the kingdom. Khamenei lashed out at UAE and said, ‘Currently, the nation of Palestine is under various, severe pressures. At such a time, UAE turned into an agent for Israel and US, and inked a deal with them. The incident is a demonstration of violence against interests of the Islamic world.’  

Khamenei’s criticism has drawn a stern reaction from the US. US Secretary of State Pompeo has appealed that ‘The world must reject and condemn Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei’s ideology of hatred. The Muslims, Christians, and Jews – rejoice at the prospect of peace, while Khamenei calls for more violence. The US stands with the UAE and all those seeking a brighter future.’  

Moreover, Pompeo reprimanded Iran and said, ‘The China is seeking to destroy the Uyghurs. Looking forward to your public callout for the CCP’s horrific treatment of those Muslims.’
