Washington / Kyiv / Moscow – A stock of ‘lethal weapons’ arrived in Ukraine on Saturday, under the defence aid being provided by the United States to Ukraine. It has been indicated that the weapons will be delivered to Ukrainian military units on the Ukraine-Russia border. In addition to this stock of weapons, an additional $200 million in defence aid will be provided to Ukraine in the next few days, according to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The US will also provide Ukraine with five Russian-made Mi-17 helicopters, the White House said.  

As tensions between Russia and the West fester over the Ukraine issue, the western countries have begun intense movements for defence readiness in Ukraine. Under this, large quantities of weapons have been provided to Ukraine. The US has been supplying defence assistance to Ukraine since 2014. So far, it has provided more than about $2.5 billion worth of weapons and defence systems. It is being said that a new stock of US weapons has been delivered under the same defence assistance. The UK has also supplied arms to Ukraine before the United States. Besides, the NATO member states have also declared to give arsenal to Ukraine.  

In addition to the weapons that arrived on Saturday, the US will supply an additional $200 million worth of defence assistance to Ukraine. It would include Javelin missiles, Stinger missiles and small arms. At the same time, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki informed that US would provide five Russian-made Mi-17 helicopters Ukraine. Ukraine had demanded it from the United States last year.  

Meanwhile, the UK has made a serious allegation that Russian President Vladimir Putin of trying to install a pro-Russian puppet government in Ukraine. UK’s foreign ministry says that movements of trying to overthrow the current government in Ukraine by holding hands with former Ukrainian parliamentarian Yevheniy Murayev have begun. It has been claimed that the British intelligence agencies had received information about this plan. UK’s Foreign Secretary, Liz Truss, has said that the information received by the UK shows the extent of ongoing movements for the disintegration of Ukraine by Russia.  

Russia has categorically dismissed British claims. Russia’s spokesman accused that the information published by the UK is an example of how Western countries have been falsely campaigning in Ukraine.
