Manama – Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is on a historic visit to Bahrain. On Monday night, Prime Minister Bennett arrived in Bahrain and will soon meet King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. PM Bennett will propose to Bahrain’s head of state that the cooperation between Israel and the Arab countries participating in the Abraham Accords be extended at the strategic level than keeping it at the formal level. Besides, Israeli media are claiming that the Israeli Prime Minister is visiting Bahrain to increase cooperation against the threat of Iran and Iran-backed terrorist organisations.
Moreover, Prime Minister Bennett interviewed with a local daily before meeting with Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Therein, the Israeli Prime Minister clarified the reason for his visit. ‘Israel and Bahrain are dealing with major security challenges that stem from the same source, the Islamic Republic of Iran. We all understand that we face the same challenges, so why not work together to tackle them?’ He further urged to unite and work against Iran and pro-Iranian groups day and night. ‘We are fighting Iran and its henchmen in the region day and night, and we will help our friends in promoting peace, security and stability, whenever we are asked, announced the Israeli PM.
‘Iran seeks to destroy moderate states that care for the welfare of their people…replacing them with bloodthirsty terrorist groups,’ he said. Prime Minister Bennett said there was a need to raise an independent organisation of countries in the region to deal with the Iranian threat.
Simultaneously, since a few years, Israel has been strengthening its military cooperation with countries in the Middle East region, reminded PM Bennett. Also, PM Bennett reassured of Israel being a strong and trusted ally in dealing with the Iranian threat. Though not directly mentioned, PM Bennett indicated that the military cooperation was being established between Israel and the UAE, claimed a Bahrain daily.
Before meeting with Bahrain’s King Hamad and Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the Israeli Prime Minister held talks with Jewish leaders living in Bahrain. The Israeli Prime Minister also met with the chief of the US Naval Command stationed in Bahrain.
Just hours before the Israeli Prime Minister’s visit, Israel has deployed its naval officer in Bahrain. Israel and Bahrain had clarified that this deployment was made to contact and coordinate with the US Naval Command Centre deployed in Bahrain.
