Russia intensifies attacks in Ukraine

Kyiv – Russia has continued an overwhelming military operation by seizing the Ukrainian capital to deploy a missile-intercepting defence system there. As the conflict continues, Russia has shown readiness to hold talks with Ukraine. However, Russia has warned that Ukraine’s military will have to lay down its arms ahead of this. There are indications that Ukraine is not ready for that. Ukraine’s Defence Ministry has claimed that units of the Ukrainian military have begun their journey to liberate the capital Kyiv from Russian occupation. Besides, various information is floating around in the media regarding the exact damage Ukraine suffered in Russia’s attack. Ukraine’s Defence Ministry has claimed that the Ukrainian military has killed more than a thousand Russian soldiers. Moreover, Ukraine’s Defence Ministry declared that some Russian soldiers were taken into custody by its forces. Ukraine’s Defence Ministry says additional troops entering Ukraine from Russia’s border have been driven out by the Ukrainian army.

Despite such claims from Ukraine, in reality, it is becoming increasingly difficult for Ukraine’s military to withstand the attack of the Russian air force and the army. The Russian military has seized a significant part of the capital Kyiv. Furthermore, the news had been released that the Russian military was now ready to deploy air defence systems in the capital Kyiv. The Ukrainian military had to decide on keeping Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky safe in a bunker due to Russian fighter jets and missiles being hit. In such a scenario, the Ukrainian military’s claims of taking control of the capital Kyiv from Russia do not appear credible. The Russian military has been accused of targeting Ukrainian civilian colonies as well.

Moreover, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin clarified that Russia has not invaded Ukraine but is taking military action to save the country from a government that seeks to end Ukraine’s neutrality. Ukraine’s President Zelensky had announced that he was ready for talks with Russia. Consequently, Russia has accepted the proposal.

Accordingly, Russia has prepared to send a high-level delegation to Minsk, the capital of Belarus. But Russia demanded the Ukraine military lay down its arms before the talks began. Currently, there are indications that Ukraine is not ready for this. On the contrary, claims of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry of fighting back the Russian military have festered the situation even more. Even though Ukraine has been left in the plight corner in the face of the Russian invasion, the United States and NATO have indirectly agreed that they cannot go into war with Russia for Ukraine. Preparations have been made to weaken Russia by imposing harsh economic sanctions that will have a long-term effect on Russia, stated the US President. It appears that though this may weaken Russia in the future, it will not resolve the dreadful crisis currently looming upon Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephonic conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss the Ukraine issue. Besides, reports have surfaced that the Chinese President has testified about China standing firmly behind Russia at this time.
