Russia launches major attacks in South Ukraine and Donbas

Moscow/Kyiv – Russia has launched large attacks in Ukraine’s southern and eastern parts. A leading Ukrainian business tycoon was killed in an attack on the port of Mykolaiv in southern Ukraine. Moreover, President Volodymyr Zelensky has appealed to the local citizens to leave after the strong attacks by Russia on Donbas. At the same time, Ukraine claimed that more than 100 Russian soldiers were killed in an attack by Ukraine in Kherson. 

A senior member of the US Congress had recently warned that Ukraine has only a few weeks left if it wants to regain Russian-controlled parts of Ukraine. At the same time, a leading US daily had also reported that the morale of the Ukrainian army had waned. Besides, some foreign agencies and media claimed that Russia’s weapons stockpile was running out. Against this background, the increased intensity of the attacks by the Russian forces becomes noteworthy.

Last week, Ukrainian forces launched large attacks in southern Kherson successively. On Friday, the Ukrainian army launched a major attack in the Berislav region of the province. Ukraine claimed that more than 100 Russian soldiers were killed, and seven tanks were destroyed in this attack. This was just the beginning, and in the next few days, Ukraine will launch major attacks to take over the region, said Ukraine’s Southern Command. Information has surfaced that following Kherson, Ukraine has launched drone attacks also in Russia’s Crimea province.

Furthermore, it revealed that Ukraine has to bear a terrific brunt of Russia in other areas apart from these attacks. Russia launched heavy missile and rocket attacks on Mykolaiv port and nearby regions in southern Ukraine. A leading Ukrainian business tycoon, Oleksiy Vadaturskyi, had been killed in the missile attacks in Myklov. Oleksiy was a huge Ukrainian agricultural trader and a leading exporter of food grains. He had been honoured with the ‘Hero of Ukraine’ award. His death was a massive blow to Ukraine while exporting food grains from Ukraine was allowed. 

Russia has also launched heavy airstrikes in the Donetsk region and has continued to hit tanks and cannons. The two cities of Bakhmut and Sloviansk have been primarily targeted. About 300 soldiers of the special units of the Ukrainian army were killed in the attack by the Russian forces in Donetsk and Kharkiv in the three days from July 28 to July 30, informed the Russian Ministry of Defence.
