Kabul/Washington: – 15 people were killed in bomb blast carried out by Taliban terrorists, near a girls school in the Afghan capital of Kabul. Whereas, 250 Taliban terrorists were killed in the biggest ever encounter between Taliban and Afghan military. 16 soldiers also were killed in the encounter. The Afghan defence ministry claimed that a senior Taliban commander was killed in the encounter. Reports are also being received that the locals also have taken to arms, against Taliban.

Senior Taliban commander Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai, who participated in the discussions held in Doha, said that Taliban does not intend taking over power in Afghanistan with bloodshed. Stanikzai clarified this during the virtual meeting, held on Saturday, with representatives from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Norway and the United Nations. But it is necessary to have an Islamic government in Afghanistan. Stanikzai reiterated that negotiations with the Afghan government are not possible, as this will not be possible if a coalition government is formed with President Ashraf Ghani.

Taliban commander assured that the boys and girls will be given same rights. But within a few hours of the meeting, a major blast was carried out near the girls’ school Saeed Al-Shuda, in capital Kabul, on Saturday. The internal security ministry informed that 15 people were killed in the blast and 20 people were injured. No organisation has accepted the responsibility of the blast. But the Afghan media accused that Taliban is responsible for the attack.

The Afghan military killed 250 Taliban terrorists in its actions in the Kandahar, Nangarhar, Laghman, Ghazni, Uruzgan, Herat, Farah, Helmand and Baghlan provinces. The Afghan defence ministry informed that 106 people were injured in the blast. At the same time, the Afghan military was successful in wresting control over the Dahana-e-Ghouri district, from the Taliban.

Afghan defence ministry announced that 31 Taliban terrorists were killed in the military action, in the Baghlan province, which also included Pakistani terrorists. As per the information given by the Baghlan police, locals also have taken to arms for action against the Taliban and to assist the Afghan military. Therefore, the possibility of the conflict intensifying against the Taliban in the near future, has increased.

Meanwhile, the United States has deployed additional aircrafts for safe passage of the US soldiers out of Afghanistan. These include f-18 fighter jets. Whereas, US Senator Mitch McConnell has expressed concerns over the US military withdrawal from Afghanistan. McConnell said that the Taliban will take control of Afghanistan by the end of this year. Whereas, the European countries have appealed to the United States to slow down its military withdrawal.
