Rafah/Tel Aviv – An attack by Israeli fighter jets near the Rafah border in the southern part of the Gaza Strip killed at least 44 people. Besides, Hamas-affiliated medical agencies claim that there are more than 12 children among the dead. Israel is firm on taking action in Rafah. Also, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that since the Hamas terrorists are hiding in the region, it is necessary to win Rafah and take action against Hamas to defeat it completely. At the same time, Hamas, upset over the Israeli attacks, threatened that the action against Rafah would fail to secure the release of the abducted civilians.

Moreover, Israel has begun airstrikes on Rafah in the last two days. However, there are claims of these Israeli attacks being limited. Nonetheless, Israel will launch a major military operation in Rafah in the next two weeks. Thus, the Israeli military has started encircling Rafah. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also clarified that the Rafah action cannot be avoided.

Hamas terrorists in Gaza, who fled the military crackdown launched by the Israeli defence forces for the past four months, have taken shelter in refugee camps in Rafah, close to the southern border. Besides, Israel has claimed that the Hamas terrorists have infiltrated the Palestinian refugees and are hiding in the area. Israel said that senior Hamas leaders and commanders who fled from Khan Yunis will also be found in Rafah. Therefore, the Israeli Prime Minister said that military action on the Rafah border is necessary if the anti-Hamas war in Gaza is to be won.

Nevertheless, Israel’s Prime Minister has informed his army to determine the safety of Palestinian civilians before starting military action in Rafah. Prime Minister Netanyahu has again clarified that military action will begin after Palestinian refugees are evacuated from Rafah. At the same time, the Israeli Prime Minister claimed that Israel would soon emerge victorious in the war against Hamas.

Moreover, 112 people have been killed in Israeli military action in the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours. Hamas has alleged that Rafah’s actions have killed 44 of them. In the more than four months-long Israel-Hamas conflict, 28,176 people have been killed, and 131 abducted Israeli civilians are still in Hamas custody. Israel has already clarified that it will not accept Hamas’ demand for their release.

Meanwhile, Hamas, upset over the Israeli action launched in Rafah, has issued a new threat to Israel regarding the safety of the abducted civilians. Simultaneously, Hamas has threatened that the Israeli military action in Rafah will end the possibility of the safety and release of the abducted civilians. However, it is evident from Prime Minister Netanyahu’s statement that Israel will not back down from military action in Rafah.
