Europe at greatest risk of war, warns Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau

Polish Foreign Minister

Vienna / Moscow – For the first time in the last three decades, the possibility of war breaking out in Europe has aggravated, the Polish foreign minister has warned. Before Poland’s warning, Russia has also warned of using military options. Considering this, the United States should be prepared for a war with Russia, said a former US defence official. Fears have been expressed by analysts and the media that utterance of these statements one after another could soon lead to war over the Ukraine issue.

Three major meetings were held in Russia and the West in the last four days. It was told that Russia’s demands were rejected by the United States and other Western countries in these meetings held over the Ukraine issue. The report also has been confirmed by Russia. Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Rybkov has clarified that the possibility of negotiations is over as the talks on the Ukraine issue have reached a ‘dead end’ and there is no point in continuing the talks.

Alexander Grushko, a senior Russian official, also warned that the talks had not broken the dilemma; and that Russia would use a military option to protect itself. It has surfaced that Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin, also has warned the United States. ‘Introducing sanctions against a head of state is crossing a line and comparable to a rupture of ties,’ Peskov warned.

Meanwhile, at a meeting of the OSCE group in Vienna on Thursday, the Polish Foreign Minister warned of war. Poland’s Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau has warned of a possibility of military conflict outburst in Eastern Europe without directly naming Russia. Rau also pointed to the activities of Russia in countries such as Georgia, Moldova and Armenia. The Polish Foreign Minister also warned of a risk of war, which had never emerged in Europe in the last 30 years, which has now increased.

Evelyn Farkas, a former US Defense official, has claimed that the United States must be prepared for a war with Russia. The possibility of an invasion of Ukraine by Russia has increased, said Farkas in an article. Farkas had served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the period of 2012-15. The United States and Ukraine have claimed that Russia has deployed about 100,000 troops on Ukraine’s border. There have been warnings from Western leaders and analysts that these deployments are the readiness of a new invasion over Ukraine. Farkas’s statement seems to be a part of the same.
