125 killed in a blast in Nagorno-Karabakh region, which sparked Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict

Baku – A massive explosion at a fuel depot in Nagorno-Karabakh has killed 125 people and injured 200. Besides, many people are fleeing to Armenia in fear of Nagorno-Karabakh due to the attack by the Azerbaijani army. There have been claims that until now, about 28,000 people have escaped the region. Moreover, there are reports that the Azerbaijani government is preparing to massacre Armenian descendants in Nagorno-Karabakh, which has already spread fear. At the same time, the explosion in this fuel depot becomes noteworthy. In such a situation, Azerbaijan has said that 192 of its soldiers were killed in the conflict with Armenia last week.

Last week, Armeniaand Azerbaijan clashed again after breaking the Russia-enforced ceasefire. The Azerbaijani army attacked the land of Nagorno-Karabakh region, claimed by Armenia. Armenian troops stationed in the area responded to the Azerbaijani military. After this conflict lasted nearly two days, Azerbaijan claimed to have won most of Nagorno-Karabakh. Almost 30 years later, reports of Azerbaijan gaining control of Nagorno-Karakham had emerged. Furthermore, the Azerbaijani army announced that this conflict killed 192 soldiers and injured 511.

Apart from this, Armenia and Azerbaijan had become independent after the Soviet Russia split in the 1990s. However, conflict continued between these two countries over their claims on Nagorno-Karabakh. The Nagorno-Karabakh region was part of Azerbaijan, but due to the Armenian descendants’ settlement, this province has always been the cause of dispute between the two neighboring countries. The struggle for this part has been ongoing for the last three decades since Armenia captured Azerbaijan territory in 1994. There was a six-day conflict in 2020, and much bloodshed occurred. However, the Azerbaijani army had failed even in that conflict.

However, Azerbaijan has claimed to have succeeded in occupying Nagorno-Karabakh last week after thirty years. Simultaneously, reports have also emerged that Azerbaijan plans to exterminate the Armenian descendants. In addition, there were claims that Turkey supported the genocide of the Armenian people. The Government of Armenia has also appealed to the citizens of Nagorno-Karabakh to leave the region and come to Armenia. Nevertheless, groups of Armenian descendants have started relocating in large numbers.

Meanwhile, a massive explosion occurred at the fuel depot in Stepanakert, the capital of Nagorno-Karabakh, as Armenians were fleeing due to fear of genocide. Also, Armenian media reported that the incident killed at least 125 people. The death toll is expected to increase, given the intensity of the explosion. In the last two days, 28,210 people have been shifted from this place and the number is expected to triple in the next few days. Meanwhile, Azerbaijan has taken over Nagorno-Karabakh and stopped the grain supply to the region. Hence, the situation of Armenian descendants worsens further.
